Projects

Projects are collections of layers that allow you to quickly switch between different workspaces. You can also share them with your team in read-only mode.

For example, you might build a map for an upcoming development plan that combines selected pipelines, facilities, and mineral rights with well lists from your workspace, uploaded GIS files showing planned well paths, and your own annotations. All of these layers can then be saved together as a single project, allowing you to quickly reopen and rebuild the same map layout whenever needed.

Projects store their content as references so you can add the same layers to any number of projects.

Saving Projects

When you open StackDX Maps you will see "Unsaved project" at the top of your workspace panel. You can add layers and annotations to the map, but once you close the app, your workspace will reset. To save as a project, select the 'Save' button at the top of the workspace panel to create a new project. You will be prompted to give it a name, and once submitted, the project will be saved and available in your Personal Library.

Personal projects

Your project's name will be displayed at the top of the workspace panel. Adding, removing, or reordering layers will prompt you to save these changes. Selecting another project from the library or reloading the page will discard any unsaved changes.

Modifications to project need to be saved by clicking 'Save'

Notes:

  • Temporary layers with "Unsaved" status in their name (e.g., a result of applying filters or multi-selection) cannot be saved to projects.

  • You can reorder your layers to ensure that well layers show up on top of area layers such as mineral rights, pools, etc.

Shared projects

You can use the "Share" option in the actions menu to share your project's link with your team. Enterprise administrators can also pin projects to the Projects > Shared folder in the library for all their company to access. When you open a shared project, you will see an alert letting you know that you are viewing a read-only project. Your interactions with the map will be limited and you will not be able to save any changes. You can duplicate a shared project to create your own copy to lift the restrictions.
