Well Buffer Zone Tool
The Buffer tool creates a new area around an existing map object. A buffer is defined by a set distance from the object’s boundary, allowing you to quickly identify and analyze the surrounding zone. Buffers can be applied to wells for the purpose of planning completion work where there is risk of frac communication with nearby wells.
To create a buffer around the well of interest, select the well(s). Then Click 'Import/Tools' and Click 'Buffer Zone' which pops up a Buffer Zone dialog box where the primary buffer distance and an optional secondary buffer zone distance can be entered.

When the distances are set, click Generate. If the secondary buffer was used, two layers will be added to the workspace, each grouping the wells found within that zone. Otherwise a single layer is created.
An Excel report is also generated that lists all wells in the primary and secondary zones, with labels showing which buffer they intersect. The report first appears as a popup in the lower-left corner of the screen.
